About the Event
The NTD International Classical Chinese Dance Competition is one in a series of international cultural and arts events hosted by New Tang Dynasty Television. It is launching a new era in classical Chinese dance by making this ancient art form renowned throughout the world and promoting purely authentic traditional dance that is pure goodness, and pure beauty.
Over 100 top-notch classical Chinese dancers from around the globe will put their skills to the test at the unique event. Each dancer will present a combined set of techniques and movements as well as an original dance routine, which would allow audiences to fully enjoy the four essential components of classical Chinese dance: form, bearing, dance technique, and tumbling technique.
Most importantly, two long-lost dance skills will be on display in this competition.
1. Shen-dai-shou (the body leads the hands) is a method that has been persistently sought after by all kinds of dance forms and physical performing arts since ancient times, which is the highest realm of artistic expression through physical movement.
2. Kua-dai-tui (the hips lead the legs) is an entirely lost art form.
